 After a hot day on the tough but thrilling Thionville track, young local driver Arnaud Mathieu pulls a surprise move in the final round to take him from 16th to 1st on the qualifying list!The newly surfaced track put new and experienced drivers alike through their paces, and with the track at it's hottest in rounds 3 and 4 many struggled with lack of grip. Jerome Papaconstantinos achieved 28 laps in the second round, ultimately securing 2nd qualifying spot, while fellow Frenchman Romain Picard also joined the only three to make the benchmark 28 laps in his 3rd qualifying round. But in the final round of the day Mathieu found the pace he was looking for after some unlucky mishaps earlier. He finishes the day as TQ man. Clearly happy he exclaimed, 'That's why I drive!'
